The Goal of Differentiation
“The ultimate goal of differentiation is to meet the needs of all students in a classroom during all parts of the problem-solving lesson. This becomes more manageable if the teacher can create a single task that allows not only different students to approach it using different processes or strategies, but also different students at different stages of mathematical development to benefit and grow mathematically. In this way, each student becomes a contributing and valued member of the classroom learning community.” (Differentiating Mathematics Instruction – Capacity Building Series , 2008, p. 7)
