TASC: Thinking Actively in a Social Context
The curriculum is based on the notion that all students can learn mathematics. Every child needs to be provided with opportunities to be an active thinker so that they can grow to be responsible citizens who can make reasonable decisions by engaging their critical thinking skills. The processes of thinking actively are described in detail below. The TASC model shows how students think in order to solve problems. Essentially, it is a behind-the-screens model which exemplifies how all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fit together to engage students' reasoning and critical thinking abilities when approached with a mathematical problem. Basic thinking skills are converted into critical thinking skills to help solve problems.
